According to the Metro, Manchester United skipper Antonio Valencia is set to leave the club in the summer and Arsenal are the surprise front runners in the race to sign the 33-year old.

Valencia’s current deal end in the summer and United rejected an opportunity to extend the Ecuadorian’s deal, meaning he will leave Old Trafford a decade after joining them from Wigan.

Valencia’s father, who is also his agent revealed that his son has had interests from Premier League clubs Arsenal and West Ham as the latter needs a replacement for Pablo Zabaleta in the summer.

Inter Milan and an unnamed Chinese club have also reportedly approached the Valencia household over a possible summer move but his destination is yet to be decided.

Luis Valencia, when asked about interests about his son, was quoted saying:

“Arsenal, West Ham, Inter Milan and one club from China are options, but in football everything is changing. He wants to choose the best option, but above all he wants to sign a contract for two years.”

Arsenal’s move for the Ecuadorian makes sense with both Stephen Lichsteiner and Carl Jenkinson out of contract in the summer and Hector Bellerin out with a long-term injury.
