Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has been able to confirm that left-back Luke Shaw is set to play in the clash against Young Boys in the Champions League this week .

The England international was forced to not be involved in the 2-1 win over Watford on Saturday as a precaution following a head injury he suffered while on duty with the Three Lions.

In all fairness, Shaw was not sorely missed in the trip to Vicarage Road over the weekend as Ashley Young filled in very well at left-back to help the Red Devils secure an important 2-1 win.

But for those who are concerned about the condition of the former Southampton defender ahead of the Champions League match against Young Boys, United manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that Shaw is set to make a comeback.

“Luke Shaw plays Wednesday,” said Mourinho in his post-match interview at Vicarage Road.

“We can’t do it with one left-back and Ashley Young is not just a left-back, he is also a right-back.

“They are both doing well, they are both different players and I think they both understand that one is a young player and the other is the experienced one and it is good for us to have these two options, plus Darmian.

“He is my emergency man, he is always ready for everything.”
