David de Gea has decided to remain at Manchester United for the foreseeable future, ending any speculation about his future at Old Trafford.

The Spaniard has been on the radar of Real Madrid for more than the last three years and came within seconds of joining Real Madrid in the summer of 2015, a move that was prevented by an error in a fax machine.

However, Manchester Evening News claims that the Spaniard has now decided to focus on plying his trade at Manchester United instead of making the switch back home.

The decision is reportedly inspired by the support he got from the fans of the Red Devils after a poor showing at the World Cup. While Manchester United fans showed him love, he was criticized by the Spanish media for his role in his country’s exit at the Round of 16 stage.

This would be good news for Jose Mourinho who would have had to deal with searching for a new top class goalkeeper this summer.
