Marouane Fellaini has not been the most popular player at Old Trafford during his time at Manchester United but the club’s hierarchy appears to have other ideas.

The Red Devils remained silent on the future of the 30-year-old as rumors continued to link him with a move away from the club earlier this summer.

However, United have confirmed that Fellaini has agreed to sign a new contract at the club, bringing an emphatic end to speculation that he could have even joined Premier League foes, Arsenal.

The Belgium international, who is currently on duty with his country at the World Cup, has signed a new two-year contract.

According to the Daily Mail, Fellaini’s bumper new deal will see him earn increased wages of $132,000-a-week after receiving the backing of Jose Mourinho.

The former Everton star was brought to Old Trafford by ex-Red Devils manager David Moyes during the summer of 2013.
