Manchester United have confirmed that goalkeeper Sam Johnstone has been allowed to end his career at Old Trafford.

Jose Mourinho is already rumoured to be targeting a deal for someone who could play the role of David de Gea and Sergio Romero’s back-up for next season and Johnstone therefore, has been given the chance to move away.

As per a report by the Sun, the 25-year-old has agreed to put pen to paper on a four-year deal with West Bromwich Albion.

Manchester United are receiving a sum of $8.6million (£6.5million) in return for the sale of the shot-stopper.

Johnstone was on the books of the Red Devils for a while but he struggled to even receive a call-up to play for the first team.

Jose Mourinho is expected to oversee the clear-out of a few more players to create enough room in the squad for the recruitment of new signings.
