Gerrard names three United players who were not good enough against Sevilla
Ex-Liverpool star Steven Gerrard was one of the pundits who gave their honest opinion on the worst performers for Manchester United on Tuesday.
Many people expected the Red Devils to complete the job in the second leg against Sevilla after securing a 0-0 draw in Spain a couple of weeks ago.
But things did not go according to plan when the La Liga side visited Old Trafford as they scored twice in the second half before Romelu Lukaku pulled a goal back for United.
It was a very frustrating night for Jose Mourinho and his team and Steven Gerrard has picked out the players who did not turn up on the night.
“Mourinho’s big players didn’t perform,” Gerrard told BT Sport.
“Sanchez was poor, Rashford was poor, Lukaku was OK. But if you want to progress into the quarter-finals of the Champions League you need your big players to get the fans off their seats.
“None of them turned up for Jose Mourinho tonight. Whatever tactics you play, none of them were good enough tonight.”
The elimination from the Champions League on Tuesday means United’s only hope of winning silverware this season lies in the FA Cup.
