Manchester United star Romelu Lukaku has been urged by his national team coach, Roberto Martinez, to seek a move elsewhere this summer, after two seasons at Old Trafford.

The 26-year-old signed for the Red Devils from Everton in a costly transfer move two years ago, as Jose Mourinho looked to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic at the time.

Lukaku has not been short of goals during his time in Manchester, but he has endured periods of extreme frustration and much of that occurred last season as United missed out on a place in the top four of the Premier League.

With Europa League football now all that is left while the club faces a major transition period, some players might find it to be more appealing to jump ship.

And amidst all the turbulence, Belgium coach Roberto Martinez has urged Romelu Lukaku to leave Old Trafford for a new challenge at another club this summer.

“It is now important that Romelu finds the right club,” Martinez told Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws.

“It would be a good thing for both parties.”

Martinez, who worked with Lukaku at Everton, added: “It is clear that he has to leave Manchester United.”
