Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp aimed a passive insult at Manchester United when speaking on why he chose to move to Anfield instead of Old Trafford in a recent interview.

The former Dortmund boss built a great reputation in Germany after leading his side to back-to-back Bundesliga title triumphs over Bayern Munich before reaching the Champions League final in 2013.

That was the same year in which Sir Alex Ferguson said goodbye to the Red Devils as the search for a new manager began, ending with the appointment of David Moyes.

Klopp has previously admitted that he was approached by United for the managerial position but he has now revealed he turned down a switch to Old Trafford because he ‘never felt comfortable with how they understood football’.

“Why Liverpool? I had an offer of another historical English club two years ago, but I never felt comfortable with how they understood football,” Klopp said at a charity event in Cape Town, according to Soccer Laduma .

“It didn’t feel right. When Liverpool called, I can’t explain it. It was right.”
