Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama.

Manchester United are keen on Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama, but they have two obstacles standing in their way of completing a deal, says the Mirror.

One problem United have is Liverpool’s interest. The Merseysiders are considering an approach for the 26-year-old as a replacement for Emre Can whose future an Anfield is uncertain. Juventus have been linked with his signature in recent months and he’s out of contract at the end of the season.

The second issue is Wanyama doesn’t actually want to leave Tottenham and is keen to sign a new deal. The Kenyan international, who joined from Southampton in 2016, is happy in London and has shown no desire to part company with Mauricio Pochettino.

Wanyama has spent the season sidelined with injury but he’s a key player for Spurs when fit. United would love a player of his ability as they could be short in the engine room this summer, with Michael Carrick retiring, Ander Herrera linked with AC Milan and Marouane Fellaini out of contract in three months.

They may struggle to land Wanyama’s signature, however.
