Manchester United have been handed the opportunity to sign Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng, as per a report by the the Sun.

The news comes after the Germany international – a $104,000-a-week star – informed the Bundesliga side that he wants to leave after several years at the Allianz Arena.

According to the report, Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is very much aware of Boateng’s desire to complete a departure this summer and the club is willing to consider an offer that reaches their valuation.

Mourinho is already rumored to be interested in signing a competent defender this summer as he looks to beat Manchester City to the league title next season.

Therefore, the Portuguese would be more than delighted to have a defender of Boateng’s quality at his disposal for next term.
