Jose Mourinho has revealed that his key goalscorer will not be forced to sit out Manchester United’s showdown trip to Liverpool this weekend.

The Red Devils are heading to into the clash at Anfield, having won six of their opening seven games of the new season which has seen them keep up with league leaders Manchester City.

However, injuries to key players are slowly appearing to become a threat to the progress of Mourinho’s side this season with the likes of Paul Pogba and Marouane Fellaini now out of action.

And there were more worries for the United boss as Romelu Lukaku required pain killing injections to play in United’s 4-0 win over Crystal Palace before being limited to just 24 minutes of action for Belgium during the international break.

But, much to the relief of the United faithful, Mourinho has now confirmed that the 24-year-old will be able to take part in the clash against Liverpool.

“Michael Carrick? I know he cannot play. I know that,” Mourinho told the club’s official website. “Lukaku looks fine and that’s it.”
