Manchester United have their work cut out for them in the bid to lure Leonardo Bonucci to Old Trafford after it emerged that PSG have move ahead of them in the race to secure the signature of the former Juventus hard man.

Jose Mourinho has been looking for a new defensive leader this summer and he has made Bonucci one of his major targets.

The 31-year-old joined Milan from Juve just last summer, but the former European champions, who have failed to qualify for the Champions League, have been banned from playing in the Europa League next season for breaking FFP rules.

The Sun claims Milan are ready to allow Bonucci to leave if any of his suitors can meet their $46.6million (£35.5 million) valuation and PSG are ready to pay that much for the Italian.

Bonucci has been one of the most successful Italian stars of this last decade, winning more than five Serie A titles before swapping Turin for the San Siro.
