Jose Mourinho looks set to make a move for a new attacker or goalscorer who will improve the Red Devils’ title chances heading into the second half of the season.

The Manchester United manager has seen the goals dry for most of his strikers in recent weeks even though the likes of Jesse Lingard and Romelu Lukaku were on the score sheet in Sunday’s 2-1 win over West Brom.

Mourinho is still aware of the fact that more spending might just be required in the upcoming transfer window in order to keep up with league leaders Manchester City.

Thus, a report by Don Balon is suggesting that United are making an effort to sign Mauro Icardi from Inter Milan in what would be a record-breaking deal.

The 24-year-old is also being pursued by Real Madrid but the Red Devils are intent on agreeing a deal which would be worth $164 million (€140 million).

Icardi has certainly attracted the attention many suitors this season as he leads the Serie A with a stunning total of 17 goals in 17 games so far.
