While Manchester United are being linked with deals for more attackers, players like Jesse Lingard who are still at the club are getting more backing than ever.

The 25-year-old had one of his best seasons in a United shirt last year and even though he still has his critics, Jose Mourinho sees him as part of the club’s future.

As per a claim by the Sun, United have decided to reward Lingard for his superb performances at both club and international levels.

In fact, the Red Devils are prepared to offer the England international a new and improved contract worth $200,000 (£150,000) a week.

Under former United boss Louis van Gaal, many were calling for Lingard to be sold by the club, but the all-action attacker is developing into one of the team’s key stars under Mourinho.

Even after the signing of Alexis Sanchez, the United manager is aware that his attack may still need to be bolstered this summer.
