Jose Mourinho is expected to be busy in search of a new signing to bolster his attacking options in January.

The Manchester United boss is looking to keep his side in the race for the Premier League title after falling 11 points behind league leaders Manchester City.

Most United fans have made it clear to the manager that one or two more new faces are needed to take the squad to the next level.

And Mourinho appears to be keen on answering the prayers of the United faithful following reports that he is looking to make a move for Joao Mario.

The 24-year-old is viewed by the Red Devils boss as a player who could replace the out-of-favour Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Inter Milan, who bought Mario for a fee of £40 million, are reportedly seeking that same amount for the sale of the Portugal international.

United have been linked with a number of players in recent weeks and it remains to be seen whether any of those transfer targets will be landed in the winter.
