Mourinho likely to sanction transfer sale of 28-year-old as club president speaks out
Manchester United’s move to offload Matteo Darmian this summer has edged even closer after an admission of interest from Napoli’s president.
The Italian has scarcely been a part of Jose Mourinho’s first team plans since the Portuguese took over in 2016 and he has been looking for a way out of his indifferent spell at Old Trafford.
Darmian was close to leaving the club in January, but a move could not be agreed with any suitors as he stayed on.
However, with just one year left on his current deal, United are ready to cash in and Napoli are now on the defender’s case.
As per The Sun, Napoli are looking to sign Darmian and the Serie A club’s president has confirmed his interest in making a move for the 28-year-old.
“There are five or six names on the list. We are monitoring Arias like Darmian, who can play on both flanks.” Aurelio De Laurentiis said
“Everybody would like to sign Darmian because of his versatility.”
Meanwhile, Mourinho has recently admitted as well that Darmian would be allowed to leave the club, if the “right offer” arrives.
“When a player wants to go, if that’s the case, when the right offers arrive in the club we study that because we always try to have the players happy,” said Manchester United manager
