Jose Mourinho made a few notable alterations to his squad for the match against Crystal Palace on Monday night.

Manchester United watched rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool clinch comfortable 2-0 victories over Huddersfield Town and Newcastle respectively over the weekend.

United did manage to secure a 3-2 victory as well to maintain their hopes of finishing in second place.

But the one question which remained was about the absence of Anthony Martial in the starting eleven.

The France international did not even make the squad on Monday and Mourinho has revealed the striker was indeed injured.

“He’s injured, I don’t know so well but yesterday he felt he was not ready for the game.” said the United manager

“We trust in the other players, we never complain.

“We always say that an injury means an opportunity for another player and of course, Jesse is a very good player. No problem.”

Rumours during last summer claimed that Martial was looking to leave the club for more playing time somewhere else.

The arrival of Alexis Sanchez has definitely not made things better in that regard but Martial remains a very important player for the Red Devils.
