Manchester United have announced that Marcus Rashford will now be wearing the no. 10 jersey. The switch from last season’s No.19 suggests the England star will inherit the prestigious number on a permanent basis for the new season.

Jose Mourinho previously handed Rashford a change of number in 2016 when the striker went from No.39 to No.19.

But following his meteoric rise that saw the 20-year-old land a place in the Three Lions’ World Cup squad this summer, Rashford looks set to be handed the honour of wearing the prestigious No.10.

Marcus Rashford donned Manchester United’s no.10 jersey for the first time in Sunday’s 1-0 friendly loss to Bayern Munich.

And manager Jose Mourinho said Rashford deserves to wear the famous jersey.

“He wanted it,” Jose told the club’s website. “He always wanted it. Of course, he respected the big Rooney and then Zlatan wanted to have it. Of course, he was in the shadow, waiting for the opportunity and now the shirt is empty.

“It’s something fantastic for the kid, let’s give the shirt to him.”
