Manchester United are getting ready to take on Basel in the Champions League on Wednesday, well aware that the only job left now is to secure top spot in the group.

Jose Mourinho’s side are once again Manchester City’s closest competitors for the Premier League title after a 4-1 thrashing of Newcastle brought them within eight points of the league leaders.

Up next now is a trip to Basel where they were surprisingly knocked out of the competition in the group stage almost six years ago under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Back in training with the Manchester United squad on Tuesday morning were Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic who had been sorely missed during their injury lay-offs.

Should the Red Devils win in Switzerland tomorrow, they will then be able switch focus to the Premier League for the next couple of months with a place in the next round of the competition safe.
