Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has made a strong statement regarding his belief over whether the club is still in the hunt for the title or not.

The former Juventus star made his return from injury on Saturday after spending a couple of months on the sidelines due to a serious hamstring problem.

Pogba also managed to score at Old Trafford as the Red Devils went on to thrash Newcastle 4-1 despite going 1-0 behind early in the first half.

It was a near-perfect day for Jose Mourinho’s side but the fact that league leaders Manchester City defeated Leicester City 2-0 and picked up three more points meant United’s win hardly made any difference in reducing the gap between the top two.

However, when asked about whether he believes the Red Devils are still in the title race, Pogba stated he would quit playing for the team if that was not the case.

“The season is very long, of course,” Pogba told BBC Sport when asked if Man United still had a chance to win the league this year. “If I don’t believe that, I’d stop playing.

“If I don’t believe we can still win the league, I better stop. I’ll leave my boots and stop playing football cause I’m a believer we keep fighting.”
