Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has tipped youngster Mason Greenwood to be more involved with the first team this season after his promising shows in recent times.

The 17-year-old has made his emergence through the club’s youth ranks and his progression is largely similar to that of Marcus Rashford from a few years ago.

Greenwood’s displays in pre-season for the Red Devils saw him receive rave reviews from most fans as new boss Ole Gunnar Solksjaer looks to give more chances to young talent at the club.

Ryan Giggs himself was a product of Manchester United’s fine philosophy of keeping faith in the youth as he completed his career with the Red Devils five years ago, having represented the club since he was a teenager.

The former United winger has shown his excitement about the potential of Mason Greenwood and tipped the youngster for more playing time this season.

“I like Greenwood but playing centre forward for United every week is a different thing,” he said, quoted by the Daily Star

“Not many youngsters have come through the ranks to play centre forward for the club. Marcus Rashford has done it but they usually buy someone in.

“I think we will see a lot of Mason this season because he is such a talent. Every time I see him I like him but he is still very young and learning the game.”
