Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did identify the Red Devil’s performance in the first half as the only concern from Wednesday night’s visit to Newcastle.

It has been a superb start to life as United boss for Solskjaer, who has guided the team to four straight victories in the league.

The Red Devils finally decided to say goodbye to Jose Mourinho last month after a frustrating 3-1 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.

United’s form following the appointment of Solskjaer has been much better even though certain critics are suggesting that the improved results are only because of the quality of opposition being faced.

United earned another win on Wednesday as goals from Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford in the second half of the game wrapped up the three points.

After the game though, the United boss did identify the Red Devils’ dull performance from the first half as his only concern from another good win.

“Finally we kept a clean sheet. A very professional performance.” Solskjaer said

“We didn’t hit the heights that we can do but we were in control, kept plugging away and got the goals.

“A good first touch from a sub! When you see big Romelu Lukaku running towards you, as a keeper you might take your hands away!

“We were sluggish in the first half, it was like a testimonial, too many square passes.

“We go to Dubai after the FA Cup game, you need that fitness work because we will need legs come the end of March.”
