Manchester United are reportedly getting closer to landing the signing of Alexis Sanchez, based on reports this weekend.

United are yet to complete the recruitment of any new players so far in the January transfer window which has just over two weeks remaining.

Jose Mourinho has set his sights on new attacking players who could revitalize his side’s chances of catching Manchester City in the race for the Premier League title.

The Daily Express are reporting that the Red Devils have moved ahead of their local rivals in the bidding for Sanchez.

United are claimed to be ready to meet Arsenal’s £35million asking price this month, with the outcasted Henrikh Mkhitaryan rumoured to be part of the deal.

The 29-year-old is being tipped to complete a move to Old Trafford which will see him earn $480,000-a-week or £350,000-a-week in wages.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger revealed on Sunday that a decision over the forward’s future is set to be made after leaving him out of the squad for the Bournemouth game.

“Alexis did not refuse to play. He would have played but it’s a difficult period for him.” said Wenger

“He’s always been committed until now but he could have moved yesterday, today or not. It will be decided in the next 48 hours.”
