Manchester United have not secured any noticeable new signings so far this month but that is expected to change very soon.

Monday night’s convincing 3-0 victory over Stoke City at home has seen the Red Devils move to within 12 points of leaders Manchester City in the Premier League table.

And after being given a glimmer of hope in the title race, Mourinho is now intent on bolstering his team with the signing of Alexis Sanchez in the January transfer window.

A report by the Daily Mail is saying that United have successfully reached an agreement with the Chilean goalscorer over a transfer move which is on the verge of being wrapped up.

Several sources over the past few days have continued to report that Sanchez is closing in on an Old Trafford switch.

And the latest claim is indicating that the 29-year-old has agreed a four-and-a-half-year deal with the Red Devils which will see him earn a massive $622,000-a-week (£450,000-a-week) in wages.

The decision to push for the signing of Sanchez was a relatively late one from United after witnessing rivals Manchester City remain favourites to sign the Arsenal star for several months.
