United confident of agreeing deal for $265,000-a-week star
Manchester United are confident of tying Spanish international goalkeeper David de Gea to a new contract despite what seems like an unending interest from Real Madrid.
De Gea has just one more season left on his current contract at the club and he has been heavily linked with a return to his home country for the past couple of seasons.
The appointment of Julen Lopetegui as Real Madrid’s new boss was said to have boosted the 2018 Champions League winners’ chances of signing De Gea as the duo are rumored to have a good working relationship.
However, the Sun are reporting that De Gea is very happy at Old Trafford and he is more likely to sign a new five-year-deal that has been offered to him.
The 27-year-old, a $265,000-a-week star, is on duty with Spain at the World Cup and United are hoping he will agree to sign the new deal as soon as the global showpiece ends next month.
