Manchester United have been dealt a new blow in their bid to land Inter Milan star Milan Skriniar after a strong statement from the boss of the Italian side.

The Red Devils have targeted the Slovakian as they look for a new leader to take charge of the back-line, but Inter manager Luciano Spalletti has ruled out any potential sale of the defender which appeared to be on the cards.

As per Manchester Evening News, Spalletti has boldly stated that Skriniar will be staying at the San Siro and stressed that the defender will be too expensive for any of his suitors.

“Skriniar is staying here, he is out of everybody’s price range,” Spalletti said after Inter Milan’s 6-2 win over Benevento over the weekend.

“Nobody can afford him.”

The Red Devils have been linked with several other defenders as well but Skriniar did appear to be one of the club’s top targets in the transfer market.

With funds for transfers available, United may well manage to convince Inter Milan to sell their promising defender eventually.
