United handed green light to sign 29-year-old with $22.1m clause
Manchester United have been offered the chance to secure the purchase of Axel Witsel in this summer transfer window.
After the signing of Brazilian star Fred, Jose Mourinho has continued to be linked with a move for another midfielder.
Witsel, who featured at the World Cup for Belgium, has been identified as player who could add more cover in midfied.
As per Manchester Evening News‘ who are citing a report from Germany by Bild, the 29-year-old has been offered to the club by Chinese side Tianjin Quanjian.
Witsel was of course linked to Manchester United and a host of big clubs prior to his move to Asia a couple of years ago.
Mourinho has recently admitted that he is expecting the club to complete at least one new signing before the transfer window closes next week.
Signing Witsel, who has a release clause of $22.1m, could also see the club choose to sell a player or two to balance the books.
