The Red Devils have agreed a deal to sign highly-rated Brazilian midfielder Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk, if rumours are to be believed.

Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio is claiming that a fee has been agreed between the two clubs with the transfer likely to be completed by next month.

Fred has been in spectacular form for the Ukrainian side over the past year and his performances have moved Mourinho into chasing his signature.

Tactically, the Brazilian could be the answer to United’s midfield problems from last season since he is capable of partnering Nemanja Matic in midfield, freeing up the more attacking-minded Paul Pogba.

As per the report, United are set to pay a fee of £43.8m million for Fred after securing an agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk.

The Red Devils will be eager to do better next season after finishing last year without a trophy as fierce rivals Manchester City won the Premier League comfortably under Pep Guardiola.
