Manchester United are looking to take advantage of AC Milan’s desperate financial situation by making an offer for their star defender Leonardo Bonucci.

English pair Phil Jones and Chris Smalling’s inconsistent shows from last year have proven that some spending will have to be made on new centre-backs once again this summer.

As per reports from Italy, United have made an offer of $37.3million (€32million) to sign Bonucci, the captain of AC Milan.

The highly experienced defender, who is entering the final stages of his career, is likely to consider one more big move which could see him earn more money.

The Rossoneri on the other hand, are looking to raise at least €50million from player sales this summer after falling into a worrying financial situation over the last 12 months.

Bonucci is rumoured to have been left unhappy with life at the San Siro, only a year after joining the club from Juventus.
