United in the battle to secure $40.2m midfielder signing
Manchester United are in the battle, along with Premier League foes Chelsea, to clinch a move for Bayern Munich star midfielder Arturo Vidal, as per Bild.
Michael Carrick’s retirement has left Jose Mourinho at least one midfielder short even though he has already signed Brazilian star Fred this summer.
Vidal has previously been chased by the Red Devils, but this might be the best opportunity yet to sign him.
Bild claims United are battling Chelsea for the former Juventus midfielder, who is known for being productive at both ends of the pitch.
Bayern Munich are also willing to sell Vidal for an asking price of $40.2million (£31million) if an offer of that amount is received.
Perhaps the future of Paul Pogba, which could be away from Old Trafford, is the main reason why the Red Devils might now be entertaining the idea of signing another midfielder before the season begins.
