Manchester United appear to be making their mind up over the future of one of the most important players in the current squad.

The Red Devils relied heavily on Zlatan Ibrahimovic for goals in the Premier League last season as they failed to finish in the Premier League’s top four.

Jose Mourinho’s men did manage to clinch the Europa League title despite the absence of the Swedish star in the final weeks of the campaign.

Even so, many expected United to extend Ibrahimovic’s deal at the club after he finished the season with 28 goals in all competitions.

According to a report by Sky Sports, the Red Devils are ‘unlikely’ to offer the former Paris Saint-Germain star a new contract at Old Trafford.

If true, it is a strange decision from Mourinho and the club’s hierarchy over a player whose experience and undoubted quality would be of great use to the squad next season.

Then again, the effects of Ibrahimovic’s latest injury might be more severe than we thought and the player himself might be considering retirement or an exit from the top level of football.
