Jose Mourinho is working on agreeing a deal which will see one of his key first team stars commit his long-term future to the Red Devils.

The Manchester United manager has done well to secure the services of Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku so far to bolster his squad, heading into the new campaign.

However, some of his key players have been rumoured to be on the radar of other clubs with Ander Herrera being linked with a move to Barcelona.

And according to the Telegraph, United have now moved to agree a deal with the Spaniard which would see him sign a new long-term contract at the club.

The report is indicating that the Red Devils held negotiations with the representatives of the 27-year-old over signing a new deal during the tour of the United States.

Herrera, who moved to Old Trafford from Athletic Bilbao for £28.8 million in the summer of 2014, has developed into one of the key members of Mourinho’s side.

And with Marouane Fellaini now linked with a departure ahead of the new campaign, it will be imperative for the United boss to retain the services of other central midfielders in the squad.
