United leading race for Matic after Juventus drop out
Manchester United now have no competitors in their ongoing pursuit of Chelsea star Nemanja Matic according to rumours from Italy.
The Red Devils have so far welcomed the likes of Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku who has been in promising goal-scoring form during the tour of the United States.
Jose Mourinho has made it clear that he would like to make more new additions before the Premier League season kicks off against West Ham in August.
And Chelsea star Nemanja Matic has continued to be linked with a move to Old Trafford after being made available for sale by Antonio Conte.
Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport are claiming that United now have a clear run to sign the 28-year-old after Juventus’ failure to agree a deal due to the player’s expensive price tag.
Chelsea are believed to be seeking a transfer fee in the region of $52.1 million for Matic who was brought to Stamford Bridge for the second time by Jose Mourinho in 2014.
Mourinho’s currently insufficient options in defensive midfield means the addition of a new face is imperative, heading into the 2017/18 campaign.
The Red Devils are also rumoured to be keeping tabs on Inter Milan star Ivan Perisic who is supposedly keen on a Premier League switch.
