Manchester United are preparing to make a firm offer to EintracFrankfurt for the signature of Croatia World Cup star Ante Rebic, as per a report by the Mirror.

Next season will see Jose Mourinho attempt to win the Premier League title again in his third season at the club.

The United boss has identified Rebic as a player who could add more to his attacking fire power, and the Mirror claims that the Red Devils are prepared to match Frankfurt’s valuation of the midfielder by offering $51.5million (£44million).

The 24-year-old featured in six of the Vatreni’s seven matches in this summer’s tournament, including 71 minutes of the 4-2 defeat to France in Sunday’s final.

Rebic, formerly of RNK Split and Fiorentina, scored nine goals in 28 league and cup appearances at club level last season.

Croatia teammate Ivan Perisic has been strongly linked with a switch to Old Trafford over the past three transfer windows, but United have so far been unable to agree a fee with Inter Milan.
