United receive green-light to agree $33million deal to sign defender after price cut
For the first time this summer, Manchester United have been given the green-light to clinch the signing of Toby Alderweireld from Tottenham.
The 29-year-old has been rumored to be on his way out of London after a fall-out with Mauricio Pochettino which has handed rival clubs the chance to sign him.
United looked close to signing the defender at some point this summer after making an offer which was deemed as too low by Spurs.
But as per a report by Yahoo Sport, Tottenham have suddenly reduced their asking price for Alderweireld due to a clause in the player’s contract.
In that case, United have been quoted a much lower price of $33million (£25million) for the defender, who has become one of the best in the Premier League during his time with Spurs.
Aldeweireld has already been claimed by many media outlets as the favorite to become United’s next signing after he returns from the World Cup.
