Manchester United have approach Bayern Munich over the possibility of signing Jerome Boateng this summer.

The Red Devils are now getting ready for a season where fans will be eager to see the club challenge for the Premier League crown after last season’s sheer disappointment.

Jose Mourinho appears to have made the recruitment of an experienced centre-back his priority due to the unconvincing form of Chris Smalling and Phil Jones.

As per German outlet Bild, the Red Devils have contacted Bayern Munich over the signing of Jerome Boateng before the summer transfer window is closed in England later this week.

The Bundesliga giants value the defender at $58.5million (£45million), an amount which United are likely to be able to afford.

Boateng, a $156,000-a-week player who was once on the books of fierce local rivals Manchester City, has been often linked with a transfer move to Old Trafford in recent years.
