Jose Mourinho has stepped up his chase for a new attacker in the January transfer window and if rumours are to believed, there could be a major new addition on the way.

Manchester United were barely in contention for the Premier League title at this time last week after the dramatic 2-2 draw away to Leicester City.

And seven days later, draws against Burnley and Southampton at Old Trafford have landed the Red Devils in worse trouble with the gap between them and leaders Manchester City now 15 points.

Therefore, it would be a surprise if Mourinho failed to make an effort to improve his squad and indeed, reports are suggesting that he is looking to make a move for Antoine Griezmann.

The report by the Daily Star is claiming that the Red Devils are now prepared to make an offer of £300,000-per-week in wages to convince the French star to move to Old Trafford.

United were frequently linked with a transfer move for Griezmann last summer but the forward stalled on a decision before signing a new contract with Atletico Madrid.

However, with Barcelona in pursuit of his signature, United have viewed that as an opportunity to step in and secure the services of a player who has been on Mourinho’s radar for a while.
