Pogba reveals why he chose that celebration after scoring against Newcastle
Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has revealed the reason behind his goal celebration after scoring against Newcastle in Saturday’s 4-1 victory.
The 24-year-old had made a sublime start to the new campaign but a hamstring injury he suffered a couple of months ago kept him sidelined for a while.
Pogba finally made his return to action on Saturday as the Red Devils managed to thrash Newcastle 4-1 after trailing to an early goal from the away side.
United’s clash with the Magpies saw the France international get on the score-sheet and Pogba appeared to have a special celebration after scoring that goal.
According to the ex-Juventus star, that was his attempt to show support for those victimized by slavery in Northern African.
“While very happy to be back, my prayers go to those suffering slavery in Libya,” Pogba wrote on Instagram. “May Allah be by your side and may this cruelty come to an end!”
