Manchester United once made a move for Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon, when the Italian star was still at Parma.

Now at PSG, the 41-year-old has revealed that the Red Devils made an approach for him when he was still a teenager at Parma, with him rejecting the chance to sign for then manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

“When I was a boy playing for Parma, [Sir Alex] Ferguson tracked me closely for two or three years, He’d always send scouts to watch me. At the time, Parma was my world and I didn’t feel like leaving.” the PSG star revealed

Buffon, despite rejecting a move to the Premier League giants, would however, go on to have a glittering career at Juventus after a then world record move to the Turin giants.

Not only that, he would add a World Cup trophy,  nine Scudettos, six Italian Super Cups, and five Italian Cups, before leaving for PSG.

The Italian veteran was the man in goal for PSG on Wednesday as the Red Devils somehow managed to leave Paris with a 3-1 win which was secured in simply dramatic fashion.

After employing the services of sho-stoppers like Van der Sar and De Gea, United have probably not regretted the failed opportunity to sign Buffon.
