United agree transfer move for 21-year-old player on Monday
Manchester United have loaned out one of the academy’s most highly-rated youngsters, Dean Henderson.
Henderson just signed a new two-year-deal with the Red Devils after shinning on-loan at Shrewsbury Town last season.
He kept 19 clean sheets for the League One club and was even named in the EFL League one team of the season.
However, with his path to the first team currently blocked, Henderson and the club have decided that a move away to a club where he can get regular first team action is best for his development.
It has been revealed that Henderson will spend next season on loan at Sheffield United and upon his transfer move, the Blades’ boss Chris Wilder said:
“This is a big one for us, as Dean was certainly a target for rival clubs in our division. It is a position you’ve got to get right in terms of not only ability, but character too and we have no doubt following chats between myself, Dean and Darren (Ward), that we’ve got both.
“Dean is a confident boy, who has proved himself wherever he has been. He is positive and most importantly a winner and he will handle the pressure of coming here. He had a fantastic season for Shrewsbury, playing a starring role in what they achieved last year, and he is someone we’ve tracked for quite a while now.
“We’re well stocked now in what is a crucial department at any level and we’ve got very healthy competition for that number one jersey.”
