Manchester United have informed Tottenham that they would have to pay ‘silly money’ if they want to sign Anthony Martial this summer.

The two Premier League sides have rarely been quick to reach an agreement over transfer deals in the past and this time, United are the ones in position of power.

Sun Sport is reporting that the Red Devils have responded to Tottenham’s initial enquiry for Anthony Martial by quoting a high asking price of over $132million (£100 million) to agree a deal.

The two teams have been deadlocked in talks over the transfer of Toby Alderweireld for the better part of this summer, and the Belgian – alongside Martial – are entering into the final year of their current deals.

Tottenham have been reportedly keen on offering a swap deal similar to the one which was agreed between Arsenal and Manchester United during the January transfer window but Jose Mourinho’s side are reluctant to approve a move of that sort.
